In June 2026, to honor America’s 250th anniversary, the Virginia Museum of History & Culture will unveil VMHC IllumiNATION, a breathtaking video art projection that brings the American story to life. Set against the museum’s historic facade, this immersive experience will blend artistic light, historic imagery, and music to transport viewers on a powerful journey through time and place.
This FREE community event will invite every viewer to see themselves within the fabric of American history—deepening understanding, sparking reflection, and inspiring a lasting appreciation for our shared past. A festive block-party atmosphere will enhance the four-night run of shows. As we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the entire VMHC campus will come alive with popular local bands, art displays, cultural demonstrations, community group exhibitors, and crafts and games for the whole family.

Second Stage is hosting its 2nd Annual Donna Meeks Summer Arts Camp! Co-sponsored by Amherst County Parks and Recreation for any and all rising-K through rising-4th graders.
This is a five day summer camp, beginning the morning of Monday, June 22nd, at 8:30am. Taking place in the Community Room, Green Room, and Outside.
Activities include:
-Learning dance routines-Creating visual art indoors and outdoors!-Introduction to hand drumming-Relaxing and engaging story time
Camp admission is $55, which includes:
-$5 non-refundable registration fee to Amherst Parks & Rec-$50 Camp fee (assists with covering materials and instructors).

CareLab’s upcoming 6-Day summer studio [UVA June 22-27] empowers high school and college students to unlock AI and transform ideas into impact while help design the future of the Downtown Mall! In partnership with UVA's Contemplative Sciences Center, our experiential learning studio empowers students as future changemakers learning alongside civic leaders, business professionals, and entrepreneurs while tackling real community challenges. Students develop leadership, confidence, purpose and AI skills (no AI experience necessary). Limited partial and fully sponsored seats available.
Come learn the sport of rugby while getting fit and making great friends. All are welcome. No experience necessary.

Join us on Friday, June 26th, 2026 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for Art Works’ 4th Friday Opening Reception featuring new exhibits by regional and local artists. This month’s exhibitions include mixed-media works by Heidi Peelen Brooks exploring domestic life and identity; a colorful tribute to artist Joe DeIulio; nature-inspired pastels and monoprints by Diane Wilkin; expressive abstract paintings by Deborah Milan Brudvig; Living Earth, a photographic exploration of the natural world; and an All Media Show featuring works by local and regional artists. Our Bridge Project will feature Zahra Chowdhury’s mixed-media portraits as they examine identity, perception, and the power of the veiled gaze
Meet the artists, enjoy live music, refreshments, and libations sponsored by RVA Thriving Artists, and experience an evening celebrating Richmond’s creative community. The reception is free and open to the public with free parking available. Exhibits continue through July 18, 2026. The Bridge Project Exhibit will continue through August 31st.
